SXSW is here!

SXSW is officially here. We have already seen lots of film, education, interactive and even some music people walking through the doors of our various locations. Of course the official music portion of the festival won’t start until next Tuesday evening but will all of the film and interactive parties, our fair city is already swollen with visitors.
For those of you visiting Austin from afar we’d like to officially welcome you. If you’re reading this blog post, then someone has already been kind enough to point you our direction and we truly appreciate that. We are a 24hr restaurant with five locations around Austin. We serve breakfast all day and all night and the things we are most known for are queso and pancakes. We’re sure you’re already familiar with the concept of pancakes but we offer nine varieties of pancakes everyday and you can add things to any of those nine flavors to enhance your experience even further.
Queso is a concept that some of you may not be familiar with. Of course queso is just the spanish word for cheese but when we refer to queso here in Texas, we’re usually referring to a melted cheese sauce served with tortilla chips and salsa. Kerbey Lane Cafe‘s queso is unique because we use a mild, white cheese, which gives our queso a particularly creamy and delicious consistency.
We are also a fan of adding queso to our egg dishes at Kerbey Lane. Migas is a Tex-Mex breakfast staple. The dish is composed of eggs scrambled with pico de gallo and broken tortilla chips inside, which are then topped with cheddar-jack cheese and your choice of enchilada sauce. Traditionally Migas at Kerbey Lane is served with either ranchero, verde, chipotle or queso but we recommend getting both chipotle AND queso.
We’re more than just breakfast foods, no matter what time you’re hungry or when you have a spare moment to eat we are open and ready to serve. We feature local ingredients, we offer sodas made with real sugar as well as ketchup without corn syrup. If you, or someone in your group, is vegetarian, vegan or eating gluten-free we are more than happy to accommodate.
If you’re planning to come in at any point between now and Tuesday morning, our featured pancake is Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll. That’s a pumpkin pancake with a brown sugar-cinnamon swirl, topped with a cinnamon roll glaze and powdered sugar.
This week’s featured vegan pancake is Vegan Apple Pie, which has graham, cinnamon, and chunks of apple in a vegan pancake batter. We also have Vegan Chili, which we can assure you is delicious.
